We’re Thankful for All of These Helpful Marketing Tips!
November gave us a great opportunity to stop and think about what we’re most thankful for this year. And even though Thanksgiving is over, there’s one more thing to be thankful for: new marketing tips to help your business!
During November, we looked at Facebook removing verification checkmarks, how a Facebook contest helps connect with your customers, the value of print marketing in a digital world, and how to use LinkedIn hashtags for your business.
We know with the holiday season upon us, things can get a little hectic, and it’s sometimes hard to keep track of everything. But don’t worry if you’ve missed any of our tips, because we’ve collected them all right here for you!
Tip #1: Facebook is Removing Verification Checkmarks… Now What?!
Facebook recently decided to remove verification checkmarks from business pages. Those gray checkmarks helped followers understand that this page was the official account of the business.
It might be a bit scary to not have those checkmarks anymore. After all, how will you make sure followers know that this is not an imposter page?
Don’t worry! Joe is here to walk you through three easy ways to make sure your page is still the official one for your followers!
Check out the video below for the best way to navigate Facebook’s business pages in a checkmark-less world.
Tip #2: Run a Facebook Contest
If you want to increase your engagement with followers on social media — and trust us, you do — there are a few ways to do so. One of the most effective, however, is running a Facebook contest.
A Facebook contest boosts your engagement and helps you reach a new audience. It can be as simple as telling your followers to “comment to win” on a certain post.
If you run a contest periodically, you will retain current followers and bring in new followers through promotion and word-of-mouth.
One of the more successful contests are photo contests. People love to share their photos, and user-generated content helps to boost engagement. If you can get your product or service into the photo contest, that’s also great promotion for your business!
Decide on the rules ahead time, and then promote it! It’s a great way to have followers be active on your pages.

Tip #3: Blending Your Print and Digital Marketing Strategies
If your marketing strategy only includes digital marketing, then you’re missing out on a great opportunity to increase brand awareness. Print marketing can be very effective, especially if you make it work with your digital strategy.
You can use business cards, stickers, flyers, and handouts to increase your brand awareness. By having your print and digital plans work together, you can create an effective marketing strategy that reaches a broader audience.
In the video below, Jackie examines a few of the different print mediums that work successfully for brand awareness.
Tip #4: Add Hashtags to Your LinkedIn Pages
LinkedIn now allows you to associate hashtags with your page, which makes it easier for prospective customers to find you!
Go through your LinkedIn settings and add three popular hashtags that make sense for your business. Remember, these hashtags must be relevant to your business. If users follow a hashtag and something not related appears, your page might get flagged. Too many flags, and your page might not get shown as often!
LinkedIn can be very impactful as a business tool. That’s where looking at the impact of hashtags comes in.
Businesses can measure how effective their hashtags are through the View Insights option. You can then look at how many impressions your hashtag created. Use this information to improve your reach with customers!
